The charcoal drawing – American Bald Eagle in Flight -

This charcoal drawing took over forty hours to create. As one of the many great birds of prey the Bald Eagle is perhaps the most recognizable, their white head and large size are hard to miss. They may also be one of the most photographed and drawn birds of prey.

Inspiration for this drawing of an American bald eagle came after watching an eagle circle over a high mountain lake for what seemed like hours and then suddenly watched as he swooped down and retrieved a fish out of the lake with the grace and ease of a ballet dancer. The size and grace of these great birds of prey is inspiring. It is know wonder they were made the national bird of the United States they are a true symbol of freedom and strength.
