These collections of drawings are some of my newest works. As I start to explore the use of pastels and colored pencils and expand my media options. Some of these drawing were done using either pastels or colored pencils; many are mixed media drawings combining the use of pastel, colored pencils, and charcoals.
Adding color to my drawings has been an exciting experiment. I am enjoying the results and hope that you will too. Please follow along as I continue to develop my techniques.
Please Enjoy and as always any comment or suggestions are welcomed.
My Mixed Media Drawings using colored pencils and pastels along with my charcoal drawings.
When I decided to add color to some of my drawings, I was unsure as to which media to use. I played with pastels and colored pencils for several weeks and was not getting the results that I was after.
I decided to break the unspoken rule and utilize both colored pencils and pastels and I started to achieve the look I was after. I would use the pastels in the larger portions of the drawing. Then use colored pencils to build up the detail areas, my drawings were beginning to take shape. The effects were more of what I wanted to have with my drawings. When I went back and highlighted some areas with charcoal, I realized that this is where I wanted to go with my drawings.
I have combined the use of charcoal, pastels, and colored pencils into some of my drawings. I want everyone to know what it was they were looking at from the start that is why I have labeled this collection as Mixed Media Drawings.
While these drawings may not be a true form of or follow the traditional values of mixed media art, they are done with several different types of drawing Medias thus the Name “Mixed Media Drawings” for this Gallery
